TYCO Series TY-B, 2.8, 5.6, and 8.0K-factor, Upright and Pendent Sprin-klers described in this technical datasheet are standard response, standardcoverage decorative 5 mm glass bulbtype spray sprinklers designed for use inlight, ordinary, or extra hazard, commer-cial occupancies such as banks, hotels,shopping malls, factories, refineries, andchemical plants.The recessed version of the Series TY-BPendent Sprinkler, where applicable, isintended for use in areas with a finishedceiling. It uses a two-piece Style 10 (1/2inch NPT) or Style 40 (3/4 inch NPT)Recessed Escutcheon. The RecessedEscutcheon provides 1/2 inch (12,7 mm)of recessed adjustment or up to 3/4 inch(19,1 mm) of total adjustment from theflush pendent position. The adjustmentprovided by the Recessed Escutcheonreduces the accuracy to which the fixedpipe drops to the sprinklers must be cut.Corrosion resistant coatings, whereapplicable, are utilized to extend the lifeof copper alloy sprinklers beyond thatwhich would otherwise be obtainedwhen exposed to corrosive atmo-spheres. Although corrosion resistantcoated sprinklers have passed thestandard corrosion tests of the appli-cable approval agencies, the testingis not representative of all possiblecorrosive atmospheres. Consequently,it is recommended that the end userbe consulted with respect to the suit-ability of these coatings for any givencorrosive environment. The effects ofambient temperature, concentration ofchemicals, and gas/chemical velocity,should be considered, as a minimum,along with the corrosive nature of thechemical to which the sprinklers will beexposed.An intermediate level version of theSeries TY-B Pendent Sprinkler can beobtained by utilizing the Series TY-BPendent Sprinkler in combination withthe Model S2 Shield.NOTICEThe Series TY-B Sprinklers describedherein must be installed and maintainedin compliance with this document, aswell as with the applicable standards ofthe National Fire Protection Association(NFPA), in addition to the standards ofany other authorities having jurisdiction.Failure to do so may impair the perfor-mance of these devices.The owner is responsible for maintainingtheir fire protection system and devicesin proper operating condition.
