???The new Simplex Addressable Beam Detector combines the power and flexibility of IDNet technology with the proven performance of the FireRay 5000 optical beam smoke detector. Beam Detectors are used to provide “open area” smoke detection in situations where it is either impractical or not cost effective to use traditional point-type detectors or aspirating smoke detection. Some common applications are: Warehouses; Atriums; Convention Centers; Shopping Malls; Sports Arenas.
The addressable beam detector provides enhanced command, control, configuration and status / event reporting between the detector and the fire alarm control panel. Configuration, installation, diagnostics, service and maintenance of this new addressable detector is also simpler and faster than a conventional detector and separate IDNet module, saving time and money for contractors, installers and building owners.
The addressable beam detector is compatible with Simplex 4100ES and 4010ES fire alarm control panels. Key features:

- The FIRERAY 5000 System is an auto-aligning, self-correcting infrared beam smoke detector. Up to 2 detector heads can report to a single ground level controller. Once the detector head is installed, using the easy-fit mounting system an integral laser can be activated. This allows the reflective prism to be located quickly and with confidence.
- The Auto-Align function ensures proper alignment and maximum signal during the beam installation. The AutoOptimise feature automatically steers and maintains the beam in the optimum position for reliable performance. The signal generated in the transmitter element and reflected by the prism back to the receiver element is analyzed for the presence of smoke. The internal microprocessor determines an alarm condition when a predetermined level obscuration is reached.
- The system is designed to be mounted so the beam will project between 19” (0.5m) and 24” (0.6m) below and parallel to the ceiling. Lateral detection may be up to 30ft. - The FIRERAY 3000 End to End infrared Beam Smoke Detector has been designed using the latest optical technology, incorporating modern industrial, electronic and software techniques. This detector offers cost effective protection of large, open area spaces with high ceilings. It is also very suited to applications where access to ceiling mounted smoke detectors presents practical difficulties.
The FIRERAY 3000 is ideal for applications where line of sight for the IR (infra-red) detection path is narrow and where the building structure uses reflective surfaces. It has also been designed to be aesthetically pleasing and thus can equally suit modern architectural buildings as well as historical sites, particularly where ornate ceilings exist. - Open-area Smoke Imaging Detection (OSID) by Xtralis is a new innovation in projected beam smoke detection technology. By using advanced dual wavelength projected beams and optical imaging technology, OSID provides a low-cost, reliable and easy to install solution that overcomes typical beam detection issues such as false alarm incidents and alignment difficulties.
- The OSID system measures the level of smoke entering beams of light projected over an area of protection. A single OSID Imager can detect up to seven Emitters to provide a wide coverage area.

- TrueAlarm analog sensing - TrueAlarm LaserCOMPACT sensor communicates smoke chamber information to the connected fire alarm control panel. The panel evaluates the smoke sensor information against three programmed thresholds and declares an alarm or pre-alarm condition depending on smoke chamber activity.
- Status communications - In addition to smoke chamber information, the TrueAlarm LaserCOMPACT also advises the fire alarm control panel of local trouble conditions. Troubles may include dirty filter, airflow restriction or failure, etc. Specific details are stored in memory at the sensor location.
- Filtered air flow - A high efficiency aspirator continually draws air through a simple pipe network to a central detector. Air entering the sensor housing passes a flow sensor before the sample is passed through a dual-stage dust filter. The first stage of the air filter removes dust and dirt from the air sample before it enters the smoke detection chamber. A second, ultra-fine filter stage provides a clean air supply to be used inside the detection chamber to form clean air barriers which protect the optical surfaces from contamination.
- Laser detection chamber - The detection chamber uses a stable, highly efficient laser light source and unique sensor configuration to achieve optimum response to a wide range of smoke types. When smoke passes through the detection chamber, it creates light scattering which is detected by very sensitive sensor circuitry. The analog level of the sensor is then communicated to the fire alarm control panel for comparison to pre-selected alarm thresholds.
- Status logging - The sensor status history for all alarms, service, and fault events, is monitored and logged with time and date stamps within the electronics of the sensor, accessible via the local computer port. General trouble status indications are communicated to the panel as either sensor troubles or “no answer” troubles.
